Joseph Martin Toth was born on March 9, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Anna Maria Mauser and Joseph Paul Toth. Most relatives refer to him as Dodi or Joe.
In 1949 he graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School. In 1953 - from Cathedral High School. In 1973 Joseph graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree.
On August 18, 1956 Joseph married Patricia Frances Coghlan (born April 18, 1936) at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Pat graduated from St. Mary Academy in 1954 and retired from Lucent Technologies in July of 1998.
Joseph retired from AT&T Network Systems (Lucent Technologies) in December of 1989.
Joseph and Patricia reside (2005) in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Joe and Pat have four children, and all of them were born in Indianapolis:

- Monica Louise Toth (September 23, 1958)
- Joseph Patrick Toth (October 1, 1960)
