John Martin Mauser was born on February 28, 1948 to Alphonse Mauser and Mary Codarmaz in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

 

John was born with his twin brother, Joe. John is ten minutes older.

 

First Holy Communion for John and Joseph Mauser was on April 24, 1955. It was also Marie Bozic’s first communion. The Mausers lived on 1119 N. Sharon Avenue and the Bozics on 1901 N. Sharon Avenue. Their confirmation was on April 24, 1956 by Rev. Paul C. Schulte. Joseph Louis Mauser’s confirmation name was Thomas. His sponsor was Herbert Codarmaz. John Martin Mauser’s confirmation name was Donald and his sponsor was Donald (Donnie) Bozic. Marie Ann Bozic’s confirmation name was Theresa. Her sponsor was Martina Donorowicz.

 

John attended Holy Trinity Grade School in Indianapolis. He graduated from Cathedral in 1966.

 

He then joined the Air Force with his twin brother, Joe.

 

Uncle Washie encouraged John to go back to school. John recalled that Washie influenced him more than uncle Washie knew. When John visited Donny he was touched and impressed with the desk that Washie made for his son. It was made from a door and had four legs attached to it. Donnie studied at that table.

 

In 1972 after John returned from his military service in Europe, uncle Washie repeated: "John, whatever you do, use that GI bill to go back to school". In 1973 John enrolled at IU in downtown Indianapolis, and then transferred to Purdue University.

 

John married Jacqueline Sue Harrison on October 27, 1973. Jackie was born on February 12, 1950.

 

John and Jackie traveled across Europe with backpacks.

 

John and Jackie have three children:

 

  1. Sarah Lynn Mauser *McCarty* (June 1, 1977)
  2. Andrew (Andy) Paul Mauser (April 23, 1980)
  3. Laura Ann Mauser (September 11, 1984)

 

John commutes to work from Indianapolis to Ohio and spends weekends at home. John inspects airplanes as an airline mechanic.

 

He built a small barn (from an old dismantled barn), where he enjoys spending his free time.

 

Jackie and John live in the country, close to Indianapolis. They enjoy and adore their little granddaughter, Emma Caroline McCarty.
